BLEND FOR THE PREPARATION OF SPINEL REFRACTORY MATERIAL

This invention pertains to the production of a spinel refractory material used for the lining of different high-temperature thermal devices including apparatus for melting cast-iron and steel. The mixture for the production of the spinel material comprises industrial clay and magnesium oxide and further contains aluminium hydroxide. Practically complete spinel synthesis with about 60 % porosity of the refractory material can be achieved using the following components in the starting blend in wt. %: 30-65 of industrial clay; 20-23 of magnesium oxide; 15-50 aluminium hydroxide.
