The system is esp. for oxygen from a bottle to a respiration hose, having an electrically-operated valve controlled by a sensor for the pressure drop occurring on inhalation. The time for which the valve is open and thus the amount of gas delivered are adjustable dependent on the oxygen requirement. The values delivered by the sensor indicating frequency of respiration and thus the time interval between two successive inhalations are evaluated by a computer (8), and used to control the time for which the valve (9) is open, and if desired also the flow rate per unit of time. On starting up, the sensor data can remain unevaluated for a short time at least. The computer can be arranged to detect the steepness of the increase in depression from the sensor deflection per unit of time, so that with short inhalations the valve opens for a relatively long period. |
