摘要 A method of screening a fibre suspension using a partially contoured screen, the feed side being connected to an inlet and a rejection outlet, and the outlet side connected to an acceptance outlet. The fibre suspension flows through the screen housing containing the screen, accepts passing through openings to the outlet side, and rejects flowing to the rejects outlet. The screen has a different surface configuration on the feed side adjacent to the reject end than adjacent to the inlet end, which increases turbulence in the feed side adjacent to the reject end compared to the inlet end. This accommodates differences in flow velocity through the screen openings and fibre suspension consistency between the ends, making performance of the screen more uniform from the inlet to the reject end. A screen cylinder is also claimed, capable of generating at least 10% more turbulence at the reject end as at the inlet end.
