The invention relates to a process for producing the base of a cooking utensil, such as frying pan or saucepan, and also to a process for producing the cooking utensil, a part of which process is constituted by the production of the said base. According to the invention, the base is produced by generation-forming by placing a semi-finished product 3, cut out from rough-cast aluminium or a similar metal, on the form face 10 of a forming tool 5 rotating about its axis 4 and by forming the semi-finished product on its surface by means of the rotation of a generation- forming tool 7 of conical forming surface 11 about its inclined axis 6 lying in linear generation contact relative to the axis of the forming tool. The semi- finished product 3 is formed between opposite-situated rotary tools 5, 7, essentially in the form of a straight plate piece containing the base of the cooking utensil formed in its final form. In connection with the generation-forming, the base can be provided with figures or can have a metal part 21 integrally attached to it, which can be heated by induction. The generation-formed piece can comprise an edge, which, in the following pressure-turning stage, is bent into edges for the cooking utensil, or alternatively the generation-formed base can be joined to the utensil as a separately produced base by means of linear pressing. <IMAGE>
