<p>Precast concrete panels are laid end to end on the field sides and between the rails (26, 28) of a track to form a grade crossing. The panels are screwed to wooden ties upon which they rest, or straps (74, 76) are used to bolt the ends of adjacent panels together to form an integrated unit which is resistant to movement. In another embodiment, adjacent panel end surfaces are placed at a slight angle relative to one another and have substantially trapezoidal panel recesses (124, 130) allowing a curved crossing to be formed. Straps (76) are received in such recesses securing the ends of adjacent panels together.</p> |
