<p>A process for producing at least one hydroxycholesterol selected from the group consisting of 25-hydroxycholesterol, 17,25-dihydroxycholesterol and 25,26-dihydroxycholesterol via the biological hydroxylation of cholesterol; and the dihydroxycholesterols thus produced. The biological hydroxylation is effected by using microorganisms being capable of hydroxylating and belonging to the genera Amycolata and Sphingomonas.</p> |
