The press produces a working stroke for two press levers (16,17) via the axial movement of a cam bar (1). The cam bar carries two pairs of symmetrically opposite cams (6-9). The rear cam pair is higher than the front one, and recessed material sections (10,11) are located between the pairs. The axial movement of the cam bar is generated by pneumatic, electrical, or hydraulic devices, e.g. an hydraulic working piston (3), pneumatic working piston, or electric motor (5).
