The appliance consists of a sheeting structure to secure the cut trench, and a rear support and equalising device. This consists of a lower support beam (15) and one or more support and equalising beams (17) above. These have a vibrator, which acts in a direction towards the trench base, for ground compression. The beams are of a height, which corresponds approx. to the width of the associated side blades (9), and are guided on the blades. The ground material carried during the equalising stroke of the upper beam, is collected and returned by a return loader.
