Differential for use in vehicle transmissions

The differential adjusts the torque distribution between a pair of output shafts, and is suitable for opposed torque transmission directions between them. It has a housing with a main body and two ends, and which can be rotated about the same axis as the pair of output shafts. The housing contains a pair of side wheels, which rotate around the common axis with the output shafts, and at least one pair of planet wheels which rotate about axes which are parallel to the common axis, and which couple the side wheels for counter-rotation. The planet wheels enmesh with the side wheels in a first region along the common axis, and enmesh with one another in a second region along this axis. A friction modifier in the second region between a first side wheel and a first end of the housing, adjusts the torque distribution and is suitable for counter-rotation.
