Alarm monitoring method for communication network

The method involves monitoring an alarm condition of a communication network (KN), that comprises a number of network elements (Ne,...,NEm), of whom some are configured as alarm masters (NEx). An alarm message is supplied with a group address, and transmitted to all alarm masters. The step is repeated in predetermined time intervals. The alarm message is pref. repeatedly transmitted, until the error condition which caused it is restored. An alarm message may be comprised of a number of alarm messages, and is pref. transmitted from a network element, that recorded the error condition, to an associated alarm master.
