Ship hull with flat horizontal component

One or more flat horizontal components (1) with corners are secured to vertical supporting columns (5). The latter are situated clear of the component corners, and the component itself can be rectangular and smooth, while the columns can pass through it, it being secured to their bottom halves, typically one-third of the way up. Alternatively, the columns can be secured to it at their top or bottom ends. Column height can be between 1 and 5 metres, preferably between 2 and 4 metres, but ideally 3 metres. The spacing between the supporting columns may be, ideally, 3 metres apart.
