The folding sunroof is fitted to a motor vehicle, and has an outer cover (1) which is supported on parallel transverse rails (5). The rails are held in receptacles (4) which are welded to the underside of the cover. A profile strip (7) is arranged between the rails and the cover, and extends over roughly the entire width of the sunroof. The flexural stiffness of the strip is greater in the transverse direction of the vehicle, than in the longitudinal direction. The strip may have elongated transverse ribs on its underside, and may be able to bend elastically in the vertical direction.
