The device has a heated press table (10), a movable, plate-shaped press ram (13) and a carrier frame (15) for holding the table and ram. A uniform pressure is generated between the transfer foil (12) and print medium (11), whereby the foil and medium are arranged between the table and ram, by an elastic bellows (14) arranged beneath the ram. The bellows is supported by the frame and connected to a pneumatic pressure reservoir or pressure source. The bellows and ram are moved towards the table when the pressure in the bellows is raised to a certain over pressure.
