A hydrogen diffusion separator comprises a shell having a first chamber (8) to which gases are admitted and into which is sealed one end of a cluster of straight, open-ended palladium or palladium alloy tubes (1), and a second chamber (5) into which the tube cluster extends, the other end of said cluster being sealed in communicating relationship with an expansion stress absorbing device (3) leading to an outlet (4) passing through the wall of said second chamber. The expansion stress absorbing device may comprise a flexible, heat resistant steel coil or bellows (Figs. 1 and 2, not shown, to which the above numerals refer). |
