The system is contained in a heat insulated room which is independent of the ambient temperature. It makes use of heat sources of the surroundings in conjunction with heat losses from the compressor and condenser of a monovalent interruptible heat pump to maintain a storage tank at a suitable temperature. Air is circulated by a fan (1) through the evaporator (2) of the heat pump, with fins surrounding the compressor (4) and air-water heat exchangers connected to a solar energy system, and may be varied by means of control flaps. The heat from the condenser (7) is used to partially heat the storage tank (9) water through a heat exchanger (10). Solar energy is also used by another heat exchanger (12), and excess room heat by yet another (11).
