This invention relates to methods of x-ray diagnostic imaging the blood pool, liver, spleen and/or lymph system of a mammal comprising administering a contrast effective amount of a contrast agent having structure (1) wherein: R is independently alkyl having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, R<1> is (2), X is CO2, CH2O, O or NH, Y and Z are independently H, CO2R<2> or NR<2>COR<3>, R<2> and R<3> are independently H, alkyl having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms or aryl having from 6 to 11 carbon atoms, and n is 0 to 12. This invention further relates to novel contrast agents having structure (1) wherein R is C6H13 and R<1> is (3), to x-ray contrast compositions comprising such agents, and to method of x-ray diagnostic imaging utilizing such agents. |
