The thyristor bridge has a pair of similar thyristors (V4,V1 ; V6,V3 ; V2,V5) connected in series across a DC voltage (Ug) for each network phase (R,S,T), the junction between the thyristors of each pair coupled to the corresponding phase via a commutation choke (Lkr,Lks,Lkt). The firing pulses for the thyristors are provided by a network-synchronised control circuit (A), with a measuring and evaluation device (MA) for the individual thyristor voltages and/or currents, only allowing a firing pulse to be supplied to one thyristor of each pair when the other thyristor is blocked.
