A number of parallel instruction streams are used for controlling the parallel data paths (10), obtained from an instruction memory (16) via parallel control units (14). The program held in the program memory is divided into program segments accompanied by further information, identified by a distributor (18) for loading the instruction memory and controlling the control units to select the instruction streams and feed them to the different data paths.
