Process for the purification of tertiary amines

Tertiary amines are purified by contacting a tertiary amine in the liquid phase or in solution with an activated natural earth and then separating the tertiary amine therefrom. The activated natural earth is preferably one obtained by acid activation of bentonite, and may be used in admixture with an active carbon. The Specification relates particularly to the purification of trilaurylamine containing dilaurylamine and its laurate as principal impurities.
