[Also in Division H1] A battery filler comprises a frame 11 to receive batteries 12 to be filled and mounting a filling block 14 having chambers 15 corresponding in number to the number of cells in each battery, the volume of each chamber being the same as the volume of electrolyte required to fill a cell. A nozzle 18 of such small bore as to prevent normal gravity flow of electrolyte from the bottom of each chamber 15 leads into the associated cell. When the chambers 15 have been filled, suction is applied to interconnected passages 22, 19, so that electrolyte is drawn from the chambers 15 through the nozzles 18 into the cells. The filling block 14 is secured to the frame 11 by cavities 13. |
