The steering suspension and shock absorbing unit for an aircraft landing gear comprises a wheel pivot (D) constituted by a superpositioning of caissons. The pivot slides and rotates in a tube casing (E) on a hub (C). The assembly is terminated at its base by a fork (K) equipped carrying a wheel (N) in the landing gear frame. An upper socket (B) enables fitting a steering control. The wheel pivot has variable flow orifices retarding the passage of fluid inside the pivot body. Another fluid (F), located outside the pivot body, fills the cavities formed by the gaps between the caissons and the tube casing. This causes fluid propagation to bearing lubricating points (G) producing a second double acting absorber.
