This invention discloses an acceleration sensor including a permanently mounted magnet for movement inside a cylindrical cavity, in a non-magnetic material body. The magnet is cylindrically-shaped having an outer surface with an electronically conductive first portion, disposed about the magnet adjacent an axial end thereof, and an electrically non-conductive second portion, disposed about the magnet adjacent an opposite end thereof. A pair of diametrically opposed electrical contact sheets, extends through apertures inside a flexible slidable contact, with the magnet. The magnet is flexibly pushed towards a cavity end, such that the contacts are in a coupling relationship with one of the first and second surface portions. Acceleration forces over the magnet move the magnet in the direction of the cavity opposite end, urging the contacts into engagement with the remaining first and second surface portions, such that the magnet movement inside the cavity results in a change of electrical conductance between contacts.
