In a pneumatically driven, fastener-driving tool, a housing structure has an upper chamber, and a tubular cylinder is mounted within the housing structure. A driving piston is movable axially within the cylinder, and a valve member is movable axially within the housing structure, above the cylinder, between and upper position and a lower position. The valve member has an upper surface facing the upper member chamber. A sealing member is arranged to provide a seal between the sealing member and the valve member under certain conditions and to provide seal between the sealing member and the cylinder under certain conditions. An annular, elastomeric member located within the upper chamber of the housing structure is engaged with the lower surface of the upper portion of the housing structure and with the upper surface of the valve member for biasing the valve member downwardly to the lower position of the valve member, for permitting the valve member upwardly moved to the upper position of the valve member, and for functioning as a bumper between the valve member and the upper portion of the housing structure when the valve member is moved upwardly.
