A seat, having a base (2) and a shell (3) of plastics material obtained by a blow-moulding process is described. The upper surface (7) of the base is curved and bounded by two lateral edges (8), and the shell has two curved flange portions (12) that bear against said upper surface (7). The shell (3) is retained and locked into place on the base (2) by means of the flange portions (12) and the lateral edges (8).
