The reel, designed to receive a used cutting wire (1) employed for cutting thin slices of hard or exotic materials such as ferrite, quartz or silicium. has a groove (4) running its whole length which allows a cutting tool (3) to be run along the reel and cut the wire into sections for easy removal. The groove can be made in a series of sections, allowing the cutting tool to cut through them one at a time.
