AN APPARATUS AND A METHOD FOR ASSEMBLING WIRES

An apparatus (10) for assembling a wire (8), such as an electric wire or cable or telephone wire of an overhead line. The apparatus comprises a body portion (12), which is provided with suitable channel means for receiving the wire (8). The apparatus further comprises clamping means (20), said clamping means (20) having at least two operational positions such that in the first operational position thereof said wire (8) is movable relative to the body portion (12) and in the second operational position said wire (8) is clamped between the body portion (12) and the clamping means (20), said clamping means (20) being movable to said second operational position from said first position. Means (22) for holding said clamping means (20) in said first operational position are also provided as well as means (23) for releasing said holding means (22) such that the clamping means (20) are permitted to move towards said second operational position thereof.
