<p>This invention is a protracted and retracted hypodermic needle syringe device (10) having a syringe barrel (12), a cylindrical plunger (28) with a cam sleeve (30), a cam drive shaft, a needle carrier with a cam follower tab, and a hypodermic needle. The hypodermic needle can be moved by the cam system from a retracted position within the plunger to a protracted, operable position. The needle can be detached in the operable position and reattached after use, onto the needle carrier. The plunger has a resealable membrane (42) which is traversed by the needle, and can be selectively prevented from longitudinal movement within the syringe barrel.</p> |
