Spreading dowel to connect two components

The spreading dowel (1) has a spreading zone (4) which fixes into recesses (13,14) in the components (15,16). An aperture (9) in the dowel receives a spreading body (2) to widen the spreading zone. The spreading body is pre-assembled to the dowel to form the fixing element. It is held in a basic position in the aperture , and can be moved axially to put it into the spreading position. The spreading body or the dowel may have a head to limit the spreading stroke.
