Head management method especially for fixed or removable disc medium

The method involves parallel processing of data on a fixed or removable disc medium, in which all read/write heads (1-4) simultaneously read and/or write data. The data is transformed by a parallel to serial converter into conventional data words. The converter transforms serial data from a controller into parallel data supplied to the write heads, and parallel data supplied by the read heads into serial data. Cache memories are preferably arranged between the read heads and the converter and between the converter and the controller.
