<p>The invention concerns transgenic plant cells and plants having an increased glycolysis rate. The glycolysis rate is increased by the introduction and expression in plant cells of a DNA sequence which codes for an invertase, preferably a deregulated or unregulated invertase, and a DNA sequence which codes for a hexokinase, preferably a deregulated or unregulated hexokinase. The invention further concerns processes and recombinant DNA molecules for producing plant cells and plants having an increased glycolysis rate.</p> |
