<p>Longitudinal extension and consequent destruction of spirally wound membrane modules arranged in paired axial alignment within a pressure vessel of an ultrafiltration unit are prevented by a pair of end-cap anti-telescoping devices (ATD's) and a central ATD. The central ATD (120) is an integral assembly of a perforated circular steel plate (112) and a solid interconnector (126) that is concentrically disposed at its hub section (123) with tubular ends protruding on each side of the plate and having an outer peripheral groove for an o-ring (129) near each end for sealingly engaging the ends of a pair of membrane modules. Londitudinal extension of the spirally wound membranes is prevented by a plurality of axially protruding lugs (128) that are concentrically disposed on each side of the plate (122) for engaging the proximal ends of the permeate tubes and by the flat, circular faces of the central ATD (12) engaging the ends of the membranes.</p> |
