The invention relates to a device for producing and detecting induced heat radiation, in which movable mirror components (3, 6) are moved into and out of a crossed beam path (23) across a stepping motor (8) so as to be isogonal in the beam path (23). The stepping motor (8) is controlled in such a manner that when the mirror components (3, 6) enter and leave the beam path (23), there is maximum speed. In another embodiment, a mirror component is pushed into and out of the beam path (23) at a fixed angle of deviation. These embodiments ensure that there is a reduction in the test errors caused by only short-term, uneven illumination of an object (12), a detector (13) being partial acting upon by heat radiation and by overlapping of the illumination and emission phase, and the collinearity of an ejected beam (2) of a radiation source (1) and of induced heat radiation (22) is also ensured to achieve a measurement which is as independent of distance as possible.
