A burner (1) is constructed with a valve body (2), shut-off valve (3), jet (4), head (5) with openings (6), a mixing chamber ring (7), air inlets (8), venturi (9) and fuel supply inlet (10) with a filter (11). Liquid fuel is heated in a chamber (13) below which is fitted a PTC heating element. Vaporised fuel gas is then projected by expansion through a pre-jet (14) into a further duct (19) in which is an adjustable shut-off valve cone (3). The gas then enters the mixing chamber (7) and mixed with fresh air to be ejected through the holes (6) in the burner head. Ignition is by an electrode (27).
