FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed at simplifying magnesium production process using oxide magnesium-containing raw material, reducing expenses on purification of magnesium dichloride from admixtures, abandonment of aggressive hydrochloric acid streams, and reducing magnesium dichloride hydrolysis upon dehydration. Process includes preparing magnesium dichloride solution using oxide magnesium- containing raw material (brucite) and hydrochloric acid-containing absorption gases, preparing magnesium- and chlorine-containing crystal-hydrate, its dehydration, and electrolysis. At that, absorption gas is treated with circulating brucite suspension with particle size less than 1 mm and solids to liquid ratio 1: (350-550) at 50-180 C and pH 2-9 until magnesium dichloride concentration in suspension achieves value 18-27 wt %. Suspension is then decanted, clarified part is mixed with salts containing potassium and magnesium chlorides until mixture containing 30-65 wt % water and having K/Mg weight ratio (1.52-1.84): 1 is obtained. This mixture is added in percentage 10-50% to enriched carnallite and resultant stock is dehydrated. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process. |
