WORM-GEAR ELEMENT FOR WORM-GEAR MACHINES

The worm-gear element proposed is intended for use in worm-gear machines, in particular in twin-shaft worm-gear machines for use in the plastification of thermoplastics. The worm-gear element has a core (1) and e.g. helical lands (2). The core (1) consists at least in part of a material (3) which is softer than the surrounding material (4) of the lands (2). The worm-gear element is produced at least in part from a powder-form starting material by hot isostatic pressing. The core material (3) has an external diameter (7) which is at least as great as the internal diameter (6) of the lands.
