An arrangement for stopping a melt, esp. a plastic melt, which leaves a nozzle plate (1) in the form of a melt extrusion, consists of a closing slider (5) which can be pushed over the nozzle plate (1). The slider (5) has an acute angled cutting edge (6), which cuts the melt from the nozzles (2). The slider has channels (13) for a cooling medium, and can be cooled to below the solidification temp. of the melt.
