<p>The present invention provides a method for producing a substantially deuteriated substance comprising the steps of growing on a deuteriated medium an organism producing the substance, wherein the organism has been adapted to deuteriated medium such that on a deuteriated medium it produces approximately the same quantity of the deuteriated substance as the non-adapted organism produces of the non-deuteriated substance on a non-deuteriated medium. Also provided are substances produced according to the method of the present invention, MRE600 for use in a method of production of a substantially deuteriated substance, and substantially deuteriated EFTu having a substantially greater half-life in the presence of chymotrypsin in protiated media than protiated EFTu.</p> |
