The device has a housing with at least one viewing opening (5b), and at least one image surface (1) inside the housing at a distance from the viewing opening, on which an image to be viewed can be formed. There is also at least one collecting lens unit (2) between the image surface and the viewing opening. The image surface is aligned with respect to, and a distance from, the lens unit, so that an image formed on the image surface appears larger to an eye at the viewing opening. The space between the image surface and lens unit at least partly encloses a connecting surface (3) with an at least partially mirrored inner surface.
