Orderly arranging bottles on conveyor belt

Bottles or similar vessels, are arranged on a conveyor belt, using all the available surface area, by organised delivery from a pre-loading area arranged adjacent to the conveyor. Sensing equipment positions the vessels in the next available space in the conveyor stream. The conveyor (1) receives bottles (3) from a feeding conveyor (2) on which the vessels are arbitrarily positioned. The speed of the feed conveyor is controlled to feed the vessels, by means of guide rails (5b) at such a rate as to closely stack them on the main conveyor. Optical sensors (8,9) signal the feed conveyor control unit (10) to ensure orderly stacking.
