The drive shaft (1) consists of a stepped body with coupling flanges, bearing seats and/or toothing. It is composed of several sheet metal blanks (2), forming the shaft outer contour (9), which are unreleasably interconnected in an exclusively axis-parallel plane (3). Individual sections of the drive shaft such as bearing seats (4), coupling flanges (5) and/or toothing or other profiles (6) of the shaft surface (7), have an increased wall thickness (8). Pref. the sheet metal blanks have a gradation (10) only in the section of the outer contour.
