A crane is provided with a jib (14), from whose end a hook (16) is paid out via a rope (15) to engage in the eye (13). An arrester line (17) wound in by winch is attached to the hook, and extended by a boom (19) on the jib in a linen sheet (171) reaching to the water surface (12). The line is detachably secured to the boom by a holder. The latter consists of a grab (22) fitting over the arrester line from the top and attached by an elastic component (21) to the boom end. It opens automatically when the line threaded through the eye is pulled straight between the latter and the hook by winding in the winch and extending the elastic component in its lengthwise direction. Pulleys can be used to guide the line, their subshafts being mounted in the grab jaws.
