Use of branched alcohol ester(s) of olefin-di:carboxylic acid copolymers

Use of esterified products of copolymers is claimed as carrier phases for the production of microspheres for the time-delayed release of substances from their interior. The copolymers are obtd. by the reaction of alpha -olefins and alpha , beta -unsatd. dicarboxylic acids with branched primary alcohols. The microspheres may contain dyestuffs instead of pharmaceuticals. Pref. the esters contain units from 4-20C olefins, 1,4-dicarboxylic acids and 3-22C alcohols (esp. 2-ethylhexanol). Microspheres consist of biocompatible polymers (pref. polyhydroxycarboxylic acids, polylactams, polysaccharides and polyvinylpyrrolidones).
