The magnetic head includes first and second adjacent planar magnetic layers forming a magnetic circuit path with a transducing gap. A flux sensing device is disposed in a second gap in the plane of one of the magnetic layers. A magnetic valve member device is disposed adjacent to and in direct contact with the flux sensing device. The valve member device is disposed in the plane of the one of the magnetic layers. A conductor device in direct contact with the ends of the flux sensing device to supply a driving current to the flux sensing device and magnetically coupled to the valve member device.
