Intermediate steering shaft, especially for a motor vehicle

The intermediate shaft has a first end (2) for connecting to one end of a steering shaft (3) linked to the steering wheel, and a second end (4) which is connected to the rest of the steering mechanism (5). The first end has a universal joint fork (6) made in one piece with the remainder of the intermediate shaft, while the second end has a separate universal joint fork (7) which is connected to the shaft through a vibration filter (8). The vibration filter is made from a sleeve of an elastically deformable material with its inner and outer faces attached to the intermediate shaft and fork respectively and associated with a key (10) which limits the angular displacement of the sleeve relative to the shaft. Between its two ends the shaft has a corrugated section (11) which is able to deform in the event of an impact.
