The arrangement is used to reduce the system energy output and/or simplify servicing and maintenance software and/or hardware. The system includes stations (S) for controlling, directing and monitoring communications taking place in a telecommunication system. The communications between devices (B) belonging to system subscribers are arranged for by the stations, which are turned on or off depending on the presence or anticipation of an operating device. The control station, which is used to identify communications taking place, sends out control signals to the stations that regulate at least one part of the system. When no traffic is detected at a station or network device, or when one of the stations or devices is shown as requiring servicing or maintenance, the power to this station or device is turned off and traffic is redirected to other stations. |
