摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an optical device to function as intended by an observer by changing a method for controlling an operating function based on information on the position of the line of sight in accordance with the operation mode of the optical device. SOLUTION: A CPU 100 reads the number of detecting times that the detection of the line of sight in accordance with a set AF mode is executed and the number of gazing times that the same position and the same area are consecutively gazed from the data table of an EEPROM 100a. In such a case, the number of line-of-sight detecting times and the number of gazing times are set to be different in accordance with a one shot AF mode and a serve AF mode. Next, the position of the line of sight of a photographer is detected based on a specified line-of-sight detecting method by a line-of-sight detection circuit 101. A focus detecting point closest to the detected position of the line of sight is regarded as a gazed focus detecting point. In the case the number of gazing times attains the set number, operation for switching the focus detecting point to the gazed focus detecting point is performed by judging that the photographer intends to switch the focus detecting point.
