A method of making a laminate comprising a film of polytrifluoromonochloroethylene bonded to a film of plasticized polyvinyl chloride comprises applying the P.V.C. film with pressure to a surface of polytrifluoromonochloroethylene coated to a coating weight of at least 0À03 1b. per 3000 square feet with an adhesive layer of a polymerized ethylene imine, the temperature of the P.V.C. film adjacent to said adhesive layer being sufficiently high to cause softening of the P.V.C., and cooling the resultant structure to obtain a tightly bonded laminate. The term " polytrifluoromonochloroethylene " is defined as including both the homopolymer of trifluoromonochloroethylene and copolymers thereof with fluorinated carbon compounds, e.g. vinylidene fluoride, and tetrafluoroethylene. The term "polyvinylchloride " is defined as including the homopolymer of vinyl chloride and copolymers thereof with ethylenic compounds, e.g. vinyl acetate and methylmethacrylate. Conventional plastisizers are specified. In the examples, the polytrifluoromonoehloroethylene films are exposed to corona discharge prior to lamination, the adhesive being applied from solution.</p> |
