<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electrophotographic toner capable of easy control of electrostatic charge by which negative or positive chargeability is imparted and excellent in electrostatic charge characteristics such as proper quantity of electric charges, kick-off speed, aging stability and environmental stability. SOLUTION: In a 1st process, a colorant, a monoethylenic polymerizable monomer having an acid group and a dispersion stabilizer as essential components are brought into polymn. in a liq. medium not dissolving the monomer in the presence of a polymn. initiator insoluble in the liq. medium but soluble in the monomer to obtain a dispersion of toner particles made of a polymer of the monomer contg. the colorant and insoluble in the liq. medium. In a 2nd process, an amino coupling compd. is added to the dispersion to neutralize the acid groups in the polymer. In a 3rd process, the dispersion is dried by removing the liq. medium to produce the objective electro-photographic toner excellent in flowability as powder and excellent also in electrostatic charge controllability and electrostatic charge characteristics.</p> |
