PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a controller for an electric vehicle in which the grounding of a regenerative brake resistor can be detected and an inverter can be operated normally even when the regenerative brake resistor is grounded and thereby an electric vehicle can be operated continuously. SOLUTION: A series circuit of a regenerative brake resistor 6 and a regenerating brake chopper 5 is connected through a pantograph 1, a circuit breaker 2, a reactor 3, and a current detector 4 with a catenary wire and the regenerative brake chopper 5 is connected to the high voltage side whereas the regenerative brake resistor 6 is connected to the low voltage side. Furthermore, the series circuit is connected in parallel with a capacitor 7 and an inverter circuit 8. Consequently, a current detector 4 can detects the grounding of the regenerative brake resistor 6 caused by deterioration of insulation. Since the regenerative brake resistor 6 is connected to the high voltage side through the regenerative brake chopper 5, the grounding of regenerative brake resistor 6 has no direct effect on the inverter circuit 8. |
