PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject film having a specific single extensibility, capable of preventing the carriage breakage and wrinkles of the film on its processing, the end surfaces disorder and cutting of the film on slitting, the lowering in the electromagnetic conversion characteristics of magnetic tape products and the irregular winding and edge damage to the magnetic tape products, and useful for magnetic recording media, etc. SOLUTION: An aromatic polyamide film such as the film of a polymer containing a repeating unit of formula I [Ar1 , Ar2 are each phenylene, a group of formula II (X is a single bond, O, methylene, CO, etc.,), etc.,] or a repeating unit of formula III (Ar3 is Ar1 ) in an amount of >=50mol%, especially >=70mol%, and having a single elongation of <=2% after heated at 100 deg.C for 10min, especially a single elongation of <=3% after heated at 200 deg.C for 10min.
